Creating safe spaces where people can flourish
At Community Church, safeguarding is not just a policy. It is part of how we follow Jesus. It is worship. It is stewardship. It is love in action.
We believe every person is made in the image of God and deserves to be treated with dignity, care and protection. That is why we are committed to building a culture where safeguarding is woven into everything we do. Not as an afterthought, but from the very beginning.
From leadership decisions to frontline ministry, we aim to create environments where safety, trust and accountability are the norm. We want our church to be a place where everyone, especially children, young people and vulnerable adults, feels safe, seen and supported.
This looks like:
Yearly safeguarding training for everyone who works with under 18s
Safer recruitment practices for all staff and volunteers
Ongoing partnership with Thirtyone:Eight to help us follow best practice
Clear reporting pathways so concerns can be raised quickly and appropriately
Safeguarding is not the responsibility of one person or one team. It is something we carry together. With prayer, consistency and integrity. Our goal is not perfection, but a culture of responsibility, humility and trust. A culture where everyone knows their role in protecting others and feels confident to speak up when something doesn't feel right.
As with all areas of church life, we hold this with faith, care and grace.
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.” – Proverbs 31:8
