Community Church believes in team leadership, so is led by a team of elders who oversee all of our sites.

David was part of the original team that planted the church in 1996, and has been in leadership ever since. His passion is to see many people saved and become disciples of Jesus so that there will be transformation in our communities, the kingdom will advance, and the church will grow. David also oversees the South Essex Cluster for Relational Mission.

Malcolm Sullivan

Their son lives locally and serves in Gateway Peoples Centre, Stanford.  Their daughter lives on Exmoor with their son-in-law and two grandchildren and serves as Children’s work coordinator in a church in Dulverton.

Malcolm helps to keep the Elders in line by recording their meetings and following up on Action Points from them. Malcolm is part of the preaching team, has oversight of prayer within the church and also pastoral matters.  Malcolm and his wife also help to lead the Basildon site of Community Church.

Dean Baker

I have had the privilege to be involved in leadership positions since 1 year after becoming a Christian back in March 1997. I became a Christian in Thundersley Congregational Church.  I went to City University in London in 1998 to do a degree in radiography. I completed this in June 2001; I started work as a radiographer in September 2001. During my time at City University I took an active part in the Christian Union. I have worked at several local hospitals for the last 16 years. I was part of a Church plant that went into Basildon in 2002. I have been part of New Frontiers churches since 2003; recently in 2012 we became part of the Relational Mission sphere of New Frontiers under Mike Betts. I have been part of Community Church since March 2010. We planted a new community into Basildon in September 2015. I am a single guy serving God and partnering with God and other believers to see God’s church built strong and to see believers equipped and sent out to witness into the world, starting with local communities and then beyond.

I like playing table tennis in my spare time as well as reading a mixture of books.
